Mrs. Witzke
This is my fifth year of teaching math and science at Carlin Elementary Middle School. I've also worked at Sorrento Elementary and North Shuswap. Despite the fact that I majored in elementary education, I absolutely love teaching middle school. To me being a teacher means being a facilitator to connect children to the key learning areas within the curriculum. I aim to provide fun, engaging and relevant learning opportunities that allow my students to achieve academic success. Teaching is not just lessons and textbooks, it is also using the spontaneity of the day to use teachable moments to enhance student learning.
I live in Eagle Bay with my husband and three children. My youngest attends Sorrento, my daughter is at Carlin in seventh grade, and my oldest is in eleventh grade at SAS. We came here from Alberta ten years ago and haven't looked back. We live in an incredible community. In my spare time, I enjoy boating, hunting, snowboarding and tending to our many animals with my family. I am also currently enrolled in Queens University taking Inclusive Education.

Ms. Foster
This is my ninth year teaching Humanities here at Carlin. Each year I enjoy getting to know the students, their interests, and watching them grow. For some Grade 7 students in the class, this is the second year I will have the pleasure of teaching them. I am really looking forward to the upcoming school year, building upon the skills students mastered last year, and helping students accomplish new challenges.
I feel that a positive learning experience is built on a collaborative effort among parents, students, and teachers, and I welcome your questions and concerns as the year progresses.
A little background about me, I have a Bachelor of Arts from UBC with a major in History and a minor in English. My subsequent Bachelor of Education has teaching specializations in both English and Social Studies. I love teaching Humanities and feel very passionate about the content, and student learning.
I grew up in the Shuswap and currently live in Notch Hill with my family. I have five children: four who attend school here at Carlin.
How our class works:
Mrs. Witzke teaches Math and Science, while Ms. Foster teaches English, Social Studies and French to both classes. Your child will spend approximately half of their day with each of us. We are a great team and will often get both classes together to do activities and engage in learning activities as a whole group. We are excited to get to know your children as well as yourselves!
Contact Us:
