I am so happy to be returning to Sorrento Elementary. I previously taught at Sorrento before moving to Carlin Elementary Middle School, and it feels wonderful to be back in such a welcoming school and community. I am excited to begin this new chapter and getting to know my students and their families.

I am entering my tenth year of teaching. Over the years, I have taught a variety of grade levels and subjects, with much of my recent experience focused on middle school grades 6 and 7. Although I majored in elementary education, I have always enjoyed working with older elementary and middle school students. I love their curiosity, humour, growing independence, and willingness to explore new ideas.

My goal is to create a classroom where students feel safe, included, supported, and excited to learn. I believe learning should be meaningful, engaging, and connected to the real world. I enjoy incorporating hands-on activities, projects, technology, outdoor learning, creativity, and student choice into our classroom. I also believe that strong relationships are at the heart of learning. Every student brings different strengths, interests, experiences, and needs, and I work hard to create opportunities for all students to experience success.

I am especially passionate about inclusive education and supporting the diverse learners in our classrooms. I am currently completing additional studies in Inclusive Education through Queen’s University. I continue to look for new ways to make learning accessible, build student confidence, and help children develop the skills they need to become independent and successful learners.

Outside of school, I live in Eagle Bay with my husband and our three children. My oldest son is graduating this year from SAS, my daughter attends grade 8 at Carlin, and my youngest is in grade 6 here at Sorrento. Our family enjoys spending time outdoors, boating, hunting, snowboarding, and caring for our many animals. I feel very fortunate to live and work in this beautiful community.

I am looking forward to a wonderful year of learning, laughter, growth, and new experiences with my Grade 6 students. I am truly excited to be back at Sorrento Elementary!
